Earlier this month, I was officially accepted on the World Race that will go to Thailand, Malawi, and Guatemala!! I could not be more excited and it is becoming more real now that I know for sure where I will be headed. I will leave at the beginning of October and will be on a route with just girls, which both terrifies me and also excites me even more.
Woah this is actually happening!
Not only is this adventure becoming more real because of my guaranteed route, but also because I have been ordering a lot of my gear for these 9 months! It’s like Christmas in July!! I now have my sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, and other fun gadgets J. I also have my big 65 L backpack that I will use to fit all of the clothes and supplies (not including food) that I will need for my 9 month journey, and have even gotten to used it already hiking! (See pictures.) I am also super excited because rather than taking my bulky laptop, a friend donated her used Macbook Air so that I can have a laptop to download photos, update my blog, etc. easily while I am gone. I leave for training camp in 2 weeks… I am not sure what to expect but will go into it with an open mind and an open heart ready to learn about new cultures and meet the people that I will soon call family for the next 9 months, and probably forever!
Right now I am about 40% funded for my trip which is super exciting!! I continue to work as a nanny and at Cracker Barrel (come visit me!) and I am having a fundraising concert at Zionsville Presbyterian Church on August 7, where I’ll be joined by several of my musical friends to entertain, and will be talking about the mission trip. Details here… We’d love to have you come if you can!
