Living here in Swaziland has opened my eyes to a terrible epidemic, a lack of men. Oh there are plenty of males populating this country, but very few should consider themselves men. Today I watched the movie Courageous, which calls into question what makes a male a man? The script mentions getting a driver’s license, turning 18 or 21, and when a father asked his son to be the man of the house while he was away. I would venture to guess that if it had not been a Christian film there would have also been a mention of the first time they had sex. However, none of these deserve to be argued for what makes a man a man. There is so much more to it than any of these items listed.
When God created man, Adam, He gave him responsibility over all things; the fish, the birds, the cattle, even Earth itself. According to the dictionary being responsible for something means that you are answerable or accountable, having control or management over it. So men, how comfortable are you about your accountability with what God has given you charge? Have you lived responsibly? This is a mighty big Earth, are you comfortable with how you have been responsible for your small little plot at home and left charge to other men in other places to handle their plot? I have news for you, other men in this world are not being responsible.
Men all over this world, The United States included, are choosing to buy women for sexual pleasure. Some men are even choosing girls and boys. How are these children and women ending up in these situations? Most have been sold by mothers who have no help from the child’s father. Or a woman is sold by her father because it means he doesn’t have to work. That only covers the absent father situation, what about the men of this world who are paying? Hey, Americans, guess what: the men I saw sitting in the bars of Thailand weren’t natives. Oh, and they didn’t have an accent to me.
MEN, you have to start talking about this stuff! Being responsible means being accountable. WHO ARE YOU ACCOUNTABLE TO? Is it just God? What about your parents? What about your wife? What about your children? Are you being accountable to them? Could they know about how you spend every second of your day and still be proud of you?
Maybe you are one of the few who has chosen to actively live life as a Man of God. I know 15 of those men personally who are living life on this race with me right now. Have they all lived their whole life being a responsible man accountable to God, maybe not, but their eyes have been opened. Now that you have read this so have yours. Now what will you do with this information?
