Free wifi is such a blessing on the race. Free fast wifi is a miracle. Tess, Nathan and I went to a local McDonalds in Hua Hin to get said free fast wifi, and we stayed until close to midnight. At midnight I turned 34. It’s become something of a norm for us Sweet Aromans to celebrate birthdays at midnight, so Tess suggested we jump into the ocean. I really couldn’t think of a reason not to celebrate this way, so in jeans and t-shirt we both ran, tripped and splashed around the Sea of Thailand at midnight. It’s always been a bucket list item for me to spend my birthday laying out on the beach. This was finally the year I could make that happen!
When I returned to my room that night my other team mates had placed the hotel flower arrangements outside my door with a note and strawberry cookies. Then next to my bed were a vase of fresh yellow daises from Moriah. For lunch that afternoon we all went to an American BBQ restaurant. Emily blessed me with a journal, Christin blessed me with a beautiful scarf, Jason handmade me a flower, and Moriah gave me a bracelet from our last ministry plus some embroidery string! My team knows me so well, and I could not have felt more loved that day. We all went down to the beach and had some time in the sun and waves.
Later that night for our guy/girl debrief time we had one of those famous L squad dance parties. I love to dance! But the best part was sharing the night, and cake, with Rachel, LaShondra and Josh who also had birthdays that week. By far one of the best 24 hours of birthday I’ve celebrated.
This year alone has been incredible like this one day. So many blessings showered upon me. So many memorable moments. So many bucket list items checked off, and added. Most of all just so much love. I’ve never felt more loved in all my life!
