My ears were tweaked when I heard the words mission and education come from the conversation happening at the table of 12 men across from where we sat. It's a gift I believe God has given to me, no not eavesdropping, being observant of my surroundings. Turned out that these men were having a committee session for their missionary organization and so we swapped cards. I'm not sure exactly what will come of our trading information, but I am sure that God showed me it was important to connect with these men before they left the resturant.
This has been my greatest lesson this month:
listening to God's voice. The first value listed in the
vision for Adventures in Missions is listening prayer.
The second is wild trust, which is another lesson
God has been teaching me since training camp. I've
begun to ask God each day to show what He wills for
me in this new day. How will I be able to serve Him
in the best way possible? Sometimes it's hiking up a
mountain to plant trees, or rocking an orphaned child to sleep, or starting a conversation about Jesus with a man I've just met. In all of these situations I trust t
hat my body will make it, my touch will convey love, or my words will be His words. These are not things that I have been doing in the last 33 years of my life. Discovering this way of life has elated me, and if it were not for AIM bringing me on the World Race I would not know a life of abundance.
Can you believe that I have managed to learn these incredible lessons in just two months time? I'm so thankful that God has ordained my place on L squad with the team of Sweet Aroma under the coaching of Seth and Karen Barnes. These people are not the only ones who have helped me to get to this place; every person who donated any amount of money to my account or purchased something from my garage sale or fair table have also been apart of this amazing transformation in my life. It is my prayer that my transformation is also creating a transformation in you, the readers of my blogs.
This transformation is not over yet. THIS IS ONLY MONTH TWO! There are still NINE more months for me to be apart of this mission. Next month is garunteed to me, but the other eight are not. By December 1 I will need to have an additional $2,000 in my account or I will be staying in LA that day. As much as I would also love to have more time with my brother that day I would much rather complete the 11 months of this mission.
