* This is not an original blog, necessarily. People are always asking the same questions so I thought I would follow other racers lead and do a what's that mean kind of blog.

The World Race, does that mean you're running somewhere?
That would be a big fat negative! First of all I only run bases.
This is the name of my 11 month mission trip that will take me to 11 countries. We will start in Guatemala then on to El Salvador, Honduras, Philippines, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya, Uganda and finally Rwanda.

What kind of mission work will you do?
This is a hard question to answer right now, because with a a mission trip with this kind of magnitude there is a ton of planning. Often we will not know the specifics of our work until we are a few days away from traveling there. We found out this week that we will be working with an organization in Santa Cruz del Quiche called Agape in Action. It runs a hospital and clinic, as well as, community outreach programs. Our entire squad will stay here together, but go out during the days as teams to work in different ministries. More to come about this later.

Who is going with you?
SQUAD: this is the group of 62 who will follow the same route of countries. Our squad is named L squad (2nd generation). We all had the opportunity to meet each other at training camp back in July.

Squad leaders will also be apart of this crazy crew. They will be with us for the first 4 months helping to train us in the field and build up our team leaders. They have each been on their own World Race and are filled with knowledge to share.

                 CARLY                                          KK                                   SETH JR.
We will also have some amazing training and time spent with our Squad coaches, Seth and Karen Barnes. They will be meeting us in the field at different places to debrief how life in the field is going for all of us. These wonderful leaders have already given us so much to look forward to on this journey.

How many people are on your team?
The easy answer to this is 7, including myself. At training camp we were subject to a few different team building exercises. Through these and individual interviews our fearless leaders created the teams. Then they gave us a few hours off to go create some memories and come up with a name. At Starbucks, we all were in need of coffee, we decided on Sweet Aroma from the verse in 2 Corinthians 14-17. We also made some memories.

How do you pack for something like this?
With the help of your dad. At least that's what I did, because that man can pack better than anyone I know. I've seen him do it several times with all of my belongings. Seriously, my closet is now a 60 liter hiking backpack, my mattress a 2 inch blow up sleeping pad, and my house a two person tent. I'm also taking a book bag to carry everyday stuff and as a carry-on while traveling. It's amazing that my life can really fit into such small compartments. If you follow my blog regularly and start to notice I'm wearing the same thing, don't assume the pictures were taken on the same day. This photo is from training camp, I'll update it when I leave for Chicago next week.

These are the questions I'm asked most often, especially when it's a conversation in passing and I just hand someone my card. If you want to know more feel free to ask in a comment. I hope you'll subscribe to my blog and keep up with the journey.
