A few weeks ago another team mate posted on our facebook page about a random conversation that turned into a fundraising opportunity. This got me thinking, and I began praying that God would lead me to fundraising opportunities through conversation. I had already taken my business cards to the Alive Festival and started to bring up my trip to everyone I meet; at the bank, checkout line, swimming pool, everywhere.
As it turns out I don't own shorts because I can't wear them to school; so when I received an email coupon for Old Navy I decided I could spend s few dollars. Lucky for me the Bermuda shorts were on sale and I was checked out by a very nice young woman who happens to go to a Christian school. We got to talking, obviously, and she suggested that I try getting a booth at the Medina County Fair to sell my Threads of Hope. I looked into it and made a phone call to the office because there is a $260 cost for a booth. They would not allow me a smaller price, but then I checked my email. The nice young lady from Old Navy, whom I'd given my business card, had emailed me the link to the booth application and offered to give me money for the cost of the booth! I'm so overwhelmed with the generosity I've received from friends and family, but there isn't a word to express the amazement I have with the generosity from complete strangers.
What a relief to see how people live united in Christ! I'm so blessed that God has chosen this mission trip for my life. It has already opened my eyes to so much!
