That moment when…

That moment when you are in the ocean and an orphan has their arms wrapped around you. They squeal with excitement as the wave is coming but then excitement begins to turn into fear as they realize how powerful and hard that wave is going to hit. Right before it hits, they bury their face in your stomach and hold on for dear life. They have complete trust you are going to protect them.

That moment when you take the orphans to see a movie and take them out to pollo campero for lunch. Maybe for one afternoon they can take the weight of the world off their shoulders. Maybe for one afternoon they can remember what it feels like to be a kid.

That moment when you are riding on a bus and a little orphan girl is sitting next to you. Before the bus even leaves, she falls asleep on you. You hold her safely, and your heart starts breaking when you realize she doesn’t have a mom or dad to hold her.

That moment when the orphan girls call you “Barbie” and tell you how beautiful you are.

My precious ones, it is YOU who are beautiful and are so loved. Your Father loves you abundantly.

There is also that moment when a terrifying lady comes to where you are staying and yells at you outside of your gate. She wears goggles but with no lenses, so we call her gogs. You can’t miss her. We have this thing where if we mention her, we say a prayer for her. God bless gogs.

And you can’t forget that moment when you walk from the shower to your room and you hear giggling on the street. Totally greeted some niños in only my towel, on accident of course. Buenas dias, niños.

El Salvador, you have been full of treasured moments. Now, on to the next adventure!
