One of the most common questions I have gotten this year is What’s Next ? For those of you who don’t know what’s been going on over the last year I will give you a brief overview:
Got home last May
Resumed my work with abused and neglected children in Wyoming and felt a strong desire to be their voice
I was sworn in last year as a court appointed special advocate; this means I am a voice for children in the foster care system
I began working also with kids with a group of wonderful blessings; children with Brain Trauma, Autism, and learning disorders. These kids change my life everyday.
God took me on a very personal journey with him that taught me so much; it taught me that God is our defender, that slowing down is not a bad thing and if you slow down long enough to get out and smell the flowers alongside the road your life will turn into them, I learned that you have to take care of yourself to take care of others effectively, and that no matter what our best efforts are to change a situation they are futile; so take a break and let God make the changes, he knows what he is doing and it is done right !
The journey included the death of a precious great uncle, the death of the first child I worked with as a missionary, and a precious friend that added so many smiles to my life…this was just for starters but I know God has a plan and purpose in mind for all of this and his peace is my hiding place and rest.
The answer to what’s next is:
Continue to put one foot in front of the other and let God do the worrying about what tomorrow holds
Continue to say yes to wherever Jesus leads me even though it may cause pain
Next month God willing a devotional journey authored by me will be released
Please continue to pray for my teammates and I; one year later we are all still transitioning be it to another country, another mission, or just a new chapter in life.
Please pray for the book; pray that it will bring many people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Love you all, Carla
