The time here has really flown..it seems like just last night we were standing on a fragrant fish filled corner after our disco bus overheated packs and all waiting for our last bus after a taxi 12 hour train ride another taxi and another bus.

Our workaday world here holds so much to tell ( and I will when I come home). Here is a little: we work in a slum. Every morning we are greeted by precious children calling us teacher and waiting to shake our hands. I have met and worked with so many women and young ladies here that love like there is no tomorrow, give till it hurts and stand up for their families, and have hopes and dreams just like me. These women endure hardships that we could not even imagine…daily. Some of them are beaten at night, some of them have alcoholic husbands, and some have husbands that just come in and out like the wind.
We worked in a pre-school for a few days and all I could think about is this is the age that children are usually trafficked at between age 3-5 years old and because they were at school they had and an advantage; they have a chance. I remember looking over a sea of proud mothers of all different religions and thinking we are “planting seeds” for are creator to harvest long after we no longer walk these red dirt roads.
This part of the trip by far has stretched me physically, emotionally, and spiritually more than almost any other in my life. We are limited in how we interact and what we say…especially with the opposite gender as saying hello is provocative. I cannot share openly about my Fathers work which is especially difficult.
I have been sick including a respiratory infection, fire ant stings, and some kind of weird allergic reactions but again my fathers faithfulness has brought me through.
As we bask in our last week here with our precious new friends; I am ever thankful for these amazing people that my daddy brought me from a world away to meet ! I am ever thankful for the blessing I call my life, and I am ever thankful for my team, friends and family like you and your love and support on this journey. I can’t wait to share with you all in person. Love, Carla
