Training Camp Story #3
One of my favorite things about going anywhere seems to be the people you meet on the way. This time the path was speckled with all kinds of interesting folks and the best part is they all teach you something.
On the way to Georgia I met Brigette. I did not know her story at first but she seemed to have spontaneous tears. I spoke to her and found out she had just come from working at a clinic for people with life threatening diseases of the blood. It is a common occurrence that people as they are returning from some type of service work go into spontaneous but not steady crying. With her it just seemed a little different. At the end of the ride I began to ask God what do I say to her ? He simply reminded me of a scripture that I was stuck on just a few days before from the book of Leviticus about the life of a creature being in its blood. I told Brigette that it was wonderful to meet her and that what she did was a gift because the life of a creature is in its blood. It seemed weird to say but she began sobbing even more and I asked her if there was anything I could pray for her about. She said, God give me strength.
Brigette reminded me reminded me that people do not need some big fancy prophetic word ; they just need a life giving word and to know that someone cares.
Then there was John. I was talking to one guy in the termainal; he had asked me what I do for a living…of course I take this as an opening so I shared about the trip and what I would be up to. He and I stopped talking once on the plane hence victim number 2 , I mean listener #2 my seatmate. We got talking about what he does and then he asked me about what I do; they kept asking what is a girl to do? He seemed interested but distracted. Dear John was actually in the seat in front of me. He had overheard all of the other conversations and wrote me a note telling me so and of course wanted to know more. We wrote notes back and forth the whole flight..never had that happen before.
Lesson learned because of John; you never know who will hear your message. Never feel disappointed because you are not getting the desired response from one person…God may have other plans !
I love talking to strangers !!!
