What is it that people just love about yard sales ? Maybe it is finding an unexpected treasure amongst piles of stuff that people have lovingly plucked from their garages or maybe it is just the thrill of a good deal.

Whatever the reason they show up this past Saturday God brought them from the South and the North and the East and the West for the first of the fundraisers for the trip.

On Friday night we had so many things to sort it reminded me of one of my favorite passages in the Bible about opening the windows of heaven and pouring out a blessing overflow . As we sorted I was just overwhelmed as I looked at piles and piles; so many you could not see the floor and was so grateful that people would rally around to donate the merchandise like they did.

I saw a few things that had me baffled as to what they even were, I saw others I was certain what they were but wondered why on earth anyone would have it,  and other things like the stature of the singing cats that I just really wondered about. This yard sale had something for everybody and God knew it.

Before our sorting night was over God had already brought almost $200 in the door as people dropped off goods they decided to shop too. One check was from the family of a lady in our congregation who had Cancer and had gone home to be with the Lord; they had heard of the work to be done by the World Race Team and wanted to contribute in her honor.  Another set of  buyers was a husband and wife with their children; they were back 3 times and once with what was the contents of their so called cookie jar and he said he felt the spirit and wanted to give to the cause, someone bought a tattered toy chest for $200 and was very happy about it.

Everything that was bought even the singing cats seemed to mean something to the buyer. Praise be to God that he brought in over $1600 for the trip from the sale. Praise also be to God that he does not look at us like Yard Sale items; that he does not worry if we have a yellow stain or a chip or whose garage we have been in; he just loves us!
