Someone overheard me talking about the upcoming Human Trafficking Trip today and had some comments to offer.
The man proceeded to say that he had watched a Television about women in the Philippines that had been taken from the jungle to a Bar to live. He said the women had no feminine Hygiene products and were found sitting in the high heat on dirt floors and that he felt the women who now lived in an air conditioned bar were much better off.
First of all where have these women lived all of their lives ? The answer is you guessed it the Jungle and if you have lived there all of your life the heat does not even phase you.
Second of all as far the feminine hygiene products most women and young girls use a towel that is what they know…we are the ones who are all proper about it. A lot of places in Asia the babies don’t even wear diapers nobody cares or is offended.
Taking a women or Child from their home with false promises Is Not OK Ever. I have to say ignorance is not bliss here did he think these young girls were going to be wall hangings at the Bar ? Sadly, he is not the only one in the world who thinks like this. Some people tend to think oh well they are having a better life in the city , in an air conditioned building.
The long and short of it is People are that ….people they should not be sold Ever and it is not OK because they are getting some supposed pie in the sky. These people are paying for this supposed pie in the sky with their bodies and their lives !
The next time someone tells you about how the people who took them out of those horrid conditions did them a favor do what I did and tell them it is not ok…and hopefully you will not get a blank stare like I did .
