Hey all!
May is over tomorrow. How crazy is that? Here are some updates about what’s going on:
Blessings – The garage sale fundraiser I held on May 21st was a HUGE success with a special thanks to the Lord and all the people around me that donated, came, and also those that helped out the day of! It truly was massive! The day was beautiful, overcast (less sunburns for my beautiful Mama who normally burns like kindling), not too hot, not too cold and the rain clouds that popped up in the afternoon pasted over us leaving just a few spits behind. So many people showed up. All in all, we raised $1,566.85! So blessed!
By the end of this week, I’ll be passed my first fundraising goal of $5000 US (Which was not due until July 22)! So awesome! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Packing – As of yesterday, I have purchased my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow and packing cubes! My next step is to purchase my required clothing (thrift stores are the best) and other toiletry items that I might need. This trip is starting to feel less surreal!
Planning – I am (still) in the process of designing my t-shirts to sell. Hoping to get those underway soon! Here is a prototype: let me know what you think!
I’m also in the works for setting up a Boston Pizza fundraiser! All you can eat buffet pizza, pasta and salad for $20! $10 of each ticket will go to me and the rest to the restaurant! More details to follow!
(Thank you for all the people that have been praying for me specifically in the area of fundraising. Each prayer is appreciated!)
Personal – Right now, I am feeling really confident. And I am enjoying this time because I know the time will come when this feeling will pass and times will get hard again. But through all of this, the Lord has just drawn me closer to his heart. And made me more aware that how I’m feeling in each moment does not change the truth of who he is. Scripture has been my lifeline and I am learning more now in the past 5 months, than I learned in the previous year reading “spiritual” books. With his word as my rock, I feel grounded, more peaceful and also more ready for the future. It’s been (for lack of a better word) awesome.
To improve physically, I’ve joined a small group at Oxford Baptist called the Daniel plan. It tackles living healthy in today’s society, physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally, with a large emphasis on community. I’m in the process of exercising more and making hard decisions about my lifestyle. Pray for me? (If you have any questions about this or want to learn more, contact me! I love to hear from you!)
Verses Speaking to my Heart – Right now I am reading Psalms 55 and Matthew 12. I have to be honest, life right now has been overwhelmingly busy to the point that no specific verses have stuck out to me, which is a red flag. It is easy to let my relationship with Jesus slide into the back burner.
But one that was on my mind earlier this month was Psalm 18, specifically verse 28.
“For it is you who light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness.”
Prayer Requests – With that being said, please pray that I would have the wisdom to cut things from my life that need to be cut and say no to things that take up too much of my time and can lead me to “busy street” where it is hard to think and reflect on what a beautiful relationship I have with Jesus.
Thank you for all of your support and prayers! I appreciate each one of you! Please feel free to contact me on here, on my facebook or send me an email at my email address [email protected]! I would love to hear from you!
