Sorry for the break between blogs.  The Sunday before we left the Philippines I discovered my Mac laptop screen had become a beautiful assortment of colors.  Beautiful, but not very useful anymore.  It also requires me either 1. Writing a blog via email on my Iphone, or 2. Borrowing one of my teammates laptops.  The first option requires a lot of patience and pain in the fingers from constant finger typing, and well, I just wasn’t proactive enough to using the second option until now.

Welcome to Malaysia.  Month 5.  I have to admit it was already suprising enough realizing I was about half way done with the Race.  Then you can imagine my further shock when my squad leaders asked me to be a team leader right before getting on the plane to Malaysia.  A quick yes, whirlwind of a debrief consisting of team and squad leader announcements, meetings, new teammates, emotions, anxieties, and fears, goodbyes to my old team, and here we are.

I am now Team Leader of Team Overflow.

When I look back at how overwhelmed I was in my head trying to keep all of my thoughts together during debrief it’s almost comical.  I do partially blame the lack of sleep combined with my female hormones at the time as a huge contributing factor.

We came up with our Team Name, Overflow, from what we want to spew out to each other, our squad, our ministry, and everyone we come into contact.  We want our love that ultimately comes from our Lord and our God to invade every single area of our lives.  We want to dive in deeper and deeper with Him, and when that happens, our love will begin to spill out into every conversation, every action, every look, every thought, every motive, etc.

And when I look at this small title that I now have been honored to carry for however long or short He deems necessary on this trip, that’s all I need to remember.  It’s not the words I speak, the responsibilities I hold, the tasks I delegate, the intense wisdom or knowledge I present, or any power I possess.  It is first and foremost His love that He has shown me that drives me to love my teammates, my contacts, my ministry, and whoever else He places in my way.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” -1 John 4:7-8

“If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so that I can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”-1 Corinthians 13:2

And without further adou, meet Team Overflow:

Kiersten Hammock:  Yup you’re reading this write.  I have been blessed to be placed again on a team with this incredible woman of God.  I have already learned and gained so much from this dear Sister and friend of mine.  She is discerning, compassionate, wise, and yearns to know God so intensely that it is contagious to everyone who’s around her.

Brian Corder:  Yup, you’re still reading this right.  I have this man on my team again as well.  Knowing that Brian has all of our backs is a constant reassurance on our team.  He is protective, hard working, relentless, invested, and intentional.

Jenni Wesel:  This woman is so talented and is growing so much just since I have met her.  Jenni is joyful, organized, diligent, and so willing to process where she is at and where she wants to be with God.

Megan Klang:  This woman is hilarious, and I know the following months will not be dry of laughter and silliness.  Megan is merciful, motivating, full of energy, and relational.

Amanda Brescia: I am so excited to get to know more of this woman’s heart and to learn and grow from her.  Amanda is a teacher at heart, loving, intentional, and a servant at heart.

Tellus Truesdale: This man is a natural born leader and someone who has had such an impact on our whole squad since Training Camp.  Tellus is a truth speaker, kind, wise, loving, a good listener and so hard working.

What can I say, God is good.
