Dear Family, Friends, and all Supporters,
I hope this letter finds you doing well! I wanted to write to you to let you know about my next exciting and life-changing adventure. As many of you may know, I have always loved traveling and have had an intense desire to work overseas helping those in need. Beginning this September, I will be leaving the United States to go on a mission trip with a Christian Based organization called Adventure in Missions. I will be a member of the World Race program where I will be traveling to 11 countries in 11 months. These countries include Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. My team and I will work with local ministries and churches to serve the community in ways such as working in orphanages, mentoring street kids, befriending those trapped in human trafficking, door-to-door outreach, manual labor, teaching English, feeding the hungry, healing the sick, evangelizing, and so on.
Throughout this past year, I have thought deeply of where God wants to send me next. Ever since my junior year of high school when I visited Honduras to serve at an orphanage, I have felt drawn towards working overseas with the less fortunate and serving the Lord. Of course, life and its commitments tend to get in the way and I find myself at age 26 finally getting pulled by God into this amazing opportunity. You are receiving this letter because you have made a positive impact on my life in some way or another and I want to share this new chapter with you. I also cannot make this trip alone and here are some ways that you can help:
Prayer and Emotional Support: I will be traveling to dangerous countries that have a low percentage of Christians, and may face persecution. I will also be gone for 11 months. This could lead to fatigue, sickness, apathy, homesickness, and just plain burnout. Your spiritual and emotional support will be greatly needed. Also, please spread the word to your friends and family; the more people that know the more supported I am! Please follow my trip on my blog.
Financial Support: In order to participate on this amazing journey, I must raise $15,500 that will cover airfare, meals, and living expenses. It might sound like a lot; but, if 50 pledge to support me with $25 per month for one year, I will meet that goal! You can also make a one-time donation as well. I have enclosed a response card, inviting you to share in this ministry with me. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and return the response card with your donation to: Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. You are also able to donate through a link on my blog.
Personal Finances: I will be doing this full time and will have no opportunity to work while on the Race. To cover the expenses of my health insurance, vaccinations, needed travel gear and supplies, I will need to raise an additional $4,000. If you would like to donate towards these personal expenses, please send a check made out to me and mail to: 4948 147th Ct. Midlothian IL 60445. I will also be putting up a gift registry on my blog for those who would like to support me in that way.
Thank you so much for reading this letter! I look forward to hearing back from you; let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to meet and talk about this journey I am taking! I will be calling to follow up with many of you to answer any questions as well. I hope to be able to serve mercifully and lovingly this next year and have a positive influence on not only those I meet and work with but you as well. This trip will not be possible without your support and you are as big of a piece of this journey as am I! I am so grateful for each and every one of you.
Gratefully and Lovingly,
Cara Triezenberg
