If you've received (or will be receiving soon) a letter in the mail from me, then this post will look very familiar. But I wanted to make a blog post about my World Race trip, the fundraising process, where I am in that process, and where all the money YOU donate goes! So, if you've already read my letter, please go ahead and read this post because there's some new information!
And if you haven't received a letter… READ ON!
I just wanted to take a moment and share with you some exciting things God is doing in my life. As many of you know, I graduated from Shorter University with a BFA in Theatre this past May. In the months approaching graduation many people were asking: “What’s next?” And I found myself without an answer. I honestly didn’t know what was next for me. I wasn’t ready to jump into the “real world” and start my journey to reach the “American Dream.” I knew I needed to do something else first.
During my time working with World Changers God really challenged my faith and laid on my heart a desire for international missions. But I had no idea when or where. About a year ago I learned about a program called The World Race. I looked into it and immediately knew that this was something God wanted me to do. After much prayer, I finally applied. And within a month it became real.
I will be leaving in January of 2014 to serve as a missionary through Adventures in Missions in their World Race program. The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. On the World Race, my team and I will partner with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in human trafficking, and share Christ’s love with many tribes and nations.
When I found out that I was officially going on the World Race, I felt completely unworthy. I’ve had a heart for missions for a long time. And I’ve always said, “Wherever He leads, I’ll follow.” But I didn’t expect Him to send me to Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and the Philippines. I don’t know what He has planned for me in these places. I only hope to bring hope and love in His name to those who are broken and lost.
Please consider supporting me prayerfully and financially on this journey. I must raise $16,000 (its gone up a little due to insurance) in order to go on the World Race, which covers all of my expenses on the field. This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date.
Fun Fact: If 50 people pledge $30 a month for 11 months (For each month that I'm in the field) I will meet my goal, plus some!
I also have a few fundraising deadlines to meet:
September 27, 2013: $3,500
December 18, 2013: $7,500
April 1, 2014: $11,000
July 1, 2014: $16,285
As you can see, I don't have to raise the full amount before I leave.
100% of the money that I raise goes into my specific account. The account and how the money is spent is handled by Adventures in Missions, but I can assure you it will used to cover my travel and ministry expenses in the field.
If you feel lead to support me on this adventure, you can make a donation right now! Just look to the left or at the top of this screen and click the "Support Me" link and follow the instructions. Just a heads up, if you donate online, there is a small processing fee. This is because AIM is charged fees by the credit card and transaction processing companies for accepting your online payment. In the past, these fees were taken out of fundraising accounts. So, the fees are not a bad thing, it just means that I'm getting 100% of the money you donate. 🙂
Luke 10:2 says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” He has instructed me to go, and as a follower of Christ I believe it is His divine intention to use me as His hands and feet on this Earth. But I can’t do it without you. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider joining me on this adventure.
With Love,
Cara
