So it is our last week in India. It is such a bittersweet feeling. I have really started getting a heart for this place and now its time to go. That’s how it works though; once you get the swing of things and begin to enjoy it the month is up. We started this month out having no clue what we were going to do. All we knew was no interaction with guys. Be fully covered. Eat lots of rice and curry. Pray and worship; those were our “for sure’s”.
As we got into the month we started going to the slums and ministering, sharing testimonies and praying over people. We got to lead worship in Telugu, teach seminars, preach over and over again and love on people from afar.
These past few nights we have been teaching art classes, showing how God speaks in visions and encouraging people to draw out what they are being shown. It has been such a beautiful thing. The first night we had about 25 guys from ages 9-22. At the end of the teaching we told them to close their eyes and just see if the Lord was giving them any visions. It was amazing to look around the room and see 25 young men with their eyes closed, patiently waiting to hear from God. They began to draw and ya’ll the pictures blew me away. I was overwhelmed by the fact that God was showing visions to men that didn’t know him but I knew they soon would. I know they felt him in that moment because he was there.
My word for this month was faith. I thought that meant I needed to have faith for healings but what I learned was this was faith for something else. Faith to pray over people even if healing didn’t take place. Faith to be fully funded. Faith to lead worship in a different language. Faith to preach even if I didn’t know the subject yet and faith to just be. I have been stretched this month, refined and challenged, but I wouldn’t change it for a thing.
We have had our ups and downs in India. And we’ve had our good and bad days. But I am leaving with hope. I know India will be a country for the Lord because they are hungry. They have tasted his goodness and won’t turn back no matter the cost. All they need is one glimpse, one breath, one presence-filled worship and that’s exactly what the Covenant Worship Center is providing them. God has equipped the people of India and they will win this battle. I leave happy, knowing there is hope.
