This new year has brought with it so many changes.

First, we were put on new teams. I am now on an all girl team that I love and I am very thankful for. Last month, God kept putting the words, “all girl team” on my mind daily. The contact we had for the month was getting a new team once we left and I just kept thinking they would get an all girl team. I thought it was strange that God would share that with me but, none the less, I just kept on going with my days. By the way, the contact did get an all girl team this month.

Then, my old team leader, Jeff, informed us one night that we would be undergoing some extreme team changes that would change up every team. My first thought was, “oh okay, God. That’s what the deal is with an all girl team.” I have to admit I was so excited to be on an all girl team.. I knew that there were places that an all girl team could take me that a co-ed team would not which has already been beyond proven. There is something about a group of women together that is just so empowering.

We arrive at our new ministry site and see that we are working at a school. I was not too thrilled about this because I was the kid in the back of the class who paid no attention and now, somehow I have to teach. I can’t hold my own attention for long, so how am I going to do it with kids who can’t even speak my language?

First night, we get back from devotional that we do with the kids that live at the school and there are hundreds of crickets all over the room.. its as if they could smell the fear from Sha’terika! Every other second you hear a girl(um, Bridget) scream or do a little dance due to the fact that a cricket has jumped on them. One even went UP Susan’s nose. It was so funny.

We have what the Asians call, “squatty potties”. They are very interesting. I think we have all peed on ourselves or our pants at some point in the last two weeks. Last month, it was rare that we would have to use one, but we are now having to get used to them.

There are six girls on my team including myself and there is a bed that fits two comfortably and then, four on the floor. I got very lucky because two of my teammates hate to share beds and two of them like to sleep on the floor on their sleeping pads.. so, God blessed me and Bridget with the bed.

We eat rice with every meal, and by every meal, I mean lunch and dinner. We don’t get breakfast which isn’t that bad for me because I didn’t eat breakfast before the World Race anyways. We eat at 11 and at 6 at this cute little table that they put a table cloth on for us. They cook all our meals, including fish, with the heads still on. It’s definitely something.

That should about sum up the month here so far. I love you guys and can’t thank you enough for all the encouragement through prayer, monetary gifts, & uplifting words. I’m half way through and still need about $5,000 by the first of March. I would so love it if you would prayerful consider supporting me with a monetary gift!
