Some things on the World Race are amazing
Like, I-never-want-to-go-home-ever kind of amazing.
Other things.. well, they suck.
Like get-me-outta-here-right-now kind of terrible.

And that is just how it is.
We are constantly trying to figure out what is good
and trying to tell ourselves that hard things are good
even though most times it’s not how we feel.

And other times we end up in India
and it’s bad simply because it’s bad
and not good
and that’s just the way it is.

Sometimes we are holding 14 babies
while walking down the street
and 7 people tell us we are beautiful
and we feel like a mix between Angelina Jolie and Jesus.
And we are okay with it.

So here is a list of the good bad and ugly.
Enjoy!

Best night of sleep: The first night in the Philippines.
We arrived at 2 AM and I got to go sleep on what I would call the clouds of heaven.
Win.

Worst night of sleep: On our 36 hour train ride in china.

Best travel day: From Haiti to Romania.
It was long, running through airports, five minutes in America, delayed bags… but I was so excited for Europe that nothing could get me down.

Worst travel day: Nepal to China was not fun at all.
Planes and trains and lots of walking with a really heavy pack.
Not ideal.

Best food eaten: Kebabs in Brasov, Romania

Worst food eaten: Rooster Jelly in Moldova. Don’t ask.

Best Weather: Mozambique. Warm days and cool nights.

Worst weather: China. Too cold.

Best month of food: Swaziland and The Philippines

Worst month of food: Moldova…

Best transportation: Probably any time I got to use my feet.
Almost everything else was a death wish.

Worst transportation: Truck beds. School buses. Taxis that drive too fast. Contacts that drive to fast. Tuktuks

Best travel memory: When my team got to fly to Capetown, SA instead of drive the 22 hours it would have taken.

Worst travel memory: Mozambique to Swaziland. They had about 35 people and 35 packs crammed into a 25 passenger bus. Literally could not feel half of my body the whole time.

Best place to get stranded: Haiti… if I could be a beach bum
Or Brasov Romania… mountains, shopping, Europeans and fun. What’s not to love?

Worst place to get stranded: Also haiti… but only if they made me do manual labor everyday.

Best ministry: Philippines. Working with the most amazing kids and teens everrr.

Worst ministry: India – door to door evangelism.

Best shower: Outdoor shower in the bush of Mozambique.

Worst shower: The bucket bath in the Dominican.
Freezing cold and over the squatty potty… not very fun.

Best debrief: Philippines.

Worst debrief: India.
25 girls. one room…

Best smell: My shampoo and my perfume…
I win

Worst smell: Everything about India.

Best thing I brought on the race: My pop up laundry hamper and my yoga pants

Worst thing I brought on the race: My sleeping pad… it was broken.

Best noise: The sound of my squad in worship

Worst noise: Car horns.. Nonstop, car horns.

Best restaurant: The Krows Nest in Bejing, China.

Worst restaurant: Haiti Airport fast food. Even though it was gag nasty, I had not eaten anything even close to that good in a month. So I suppose on the World Race even bad can be really good.

Best memory: Shark cage diving. A shark chomped 3 inches from my face. Legit.

Worst memory: When half my team saw a Buddist monk burn himself to death in China.

Best adventure: Shark cage diving, and zip lining.

Worst adventure: When I was trying to surf in Haiti, I got caught in the Rip and thought I was going to die. I’ll try again.
