Hey everyone, thanks for taking a minute to read my blog! If you don’t know me, I am Cameron Scully and I am preparing to leave for the World Race next October. This post is pretty long, but thanks for bearing with me!

How did you hear about the Race?

I first heard of the World Race a few years ago when I first began attending Word of Life. My discipleship coordinator, Jake, had done the Race a few years prior and had told us a little bit about it, but I was not interested in it at the time. It sounded like a neat idea, bit not something I would ever really consider doing. Back then, going to 11 countries in a year sounded extremely daunting and intense (honestly, it still does), and I discounted it and soon forgot all about it.

Fast forward to about 11 months ago (I swear it was actually 11 months ago) when I was browsing the internet during a particularly confusing Hermeneutics class, and I came across the World Race again. At this point I had NO idea what my next year would look like. Would I become and intern for Word of Life? Go to a 4 year University and get my degree? Become a hermit and never leave my bed again? I had absolutely no idea what the Lord wanted me to do after WOLBI, and I was starting to feel the stress of the next year looming over me. As I began to browse through the WR website, I got more and more interested in what the program truly was. It was a chance to go to the ends of the Earth and preach the Gospel to people who have never heard the redeeming story of what Christ did for them! For the next few months I researched and prayed about this being my next step, and I felt confident to apply for the 2017 routes. And here I am now, officially accepted to the October 2017 route!

What is the Race?

Put simply, the World Race is an 11 month missions trip to 11 different countries. In each country, my squad and I will partner with local ministries to help spread the Gospel to those in need, and serve the community in any way we can. I will be serving alongside other like-minded believers and learning to live in close community with them through service and fellowship. We will be partnering with many different kinds of ministries, and life on the Race will be unique from day to day: playing with orphans who have lost parents to war, praying over sex workers who have no way to feed their children besides selling themselves, teaching English to college students who haven’t heard the name of Christ, and much more. I will have the opportunity to completely abandon my life in service to my savior.

Where will you be going Cameron?

Over the course of 11 months, I will be traveling to:

  • Guatemala, Panama, and Nicaragua
  • Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia
  • China and Mongolia
  • Lesotho, Swaziland, and South Africa

While I do not know the exact cities I will be staying in or the exact ministries I will be partnering with, I am SO excited for the work God will do in and through me in each of these countries.

How can I be apart of your Race?

There are several ways YOU can be a part of my World Race journey! Most importantly is through prayer, I need all I can get! I encourage you to be praying for my preparedness for this trip, not only financial and physical preparedness, but a spiritual readiness to serve the Lord in a foreign environment. Also, please be praying along with my for the countries and peoples I will be encountering (I will be praying for each country over the next 11 months, updates on that soon). Another important way is giving financially (will also do a post on that). Last but not least is just to subscribe to my blog for updates!

Thank you SO MUCH for visiting my blog and giving this post a read. Stay tuned (AND SUBSCRIBE) for updates on my World Race journey! Until next time!
