We’re all on a journey. Life is about finding who we are and what we’re passionate about. It’s about finding our purpose. For some it’s being a mother or a father. Maybe you want to be a business man or you want to be an artist. The world has so much to offer us. As Americans, we are all about our options. That is definitely not the same for the rest of the world. They can barely understand if you order a plain cheese burger – Haha!
Our lives are a mystery for most. We all long for something to belong to. The desire to be a part of something bigger than ourselves is instilled in our hearts and souls, as human beings. We’re created by a being full of purpose and true love.
Not all people find their purpose or their battle to fight. As children we talk about exploring space, fighting the bad guys, saving the world from mass destruction, and being the one who leads the people into peace. We want to be the change.
But somewhere in life we get knocked down. We are lied to and told we aren’t good enough or smart enough or even strong enough to change world. There’s no one I’m pointing the finger at and saying it’s their fault – we just live in a broken world.
I’ve seen too many people walking around dead. We talk about a zombie apocalypse happening in movies and books and TV shows, like The Walking Dead. I’m not going to lie, I think it would be crazy cool and I believe I could survive. Haha that’s besides the point!
The thing is, I am surviving the invasion of zombies. Most of the people of our world and nation look lifeless. They go about their days doing the same thing, going to the same job they’ve hated for years, and living a life that doesn’t satisfy them. Joyful, ambitious, and passionate isn’t how I’d describe our human race.
In Mark 8:36, Jesus says, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”
This is it! The “American Dream” is all about gain and profit. Jesus could see it. He looked into the depths of man’s heart and saw corruption. Our souls have been given up for the emptiness of what the world offers. And all for what? Money. Power. Sex.
We’ve been deceived. Look around. The people that our world marvels at and idols are empty inside. We see drug overdose after drug overdose. They’re trying to fill the void of their missing soul. There’s a hole in their heart. We all have this hole in our heart.
Our heart is what keeps us alive. If we were to have a literal hole in our physical hearts, we’d die.. We must find the missing piece in our lives, because our souls are dead.
I heard from a pastor once say, “There’s a God-Shaped hole in our hearts, and He is the ONLY one who can fill it.”
Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
If we are to find LIFE, truly life with all it’s purpose and meaning, then there is only one way.
It’s JESUS. It will always be Jesus, and it will never stop being Jesus.
We aren’t truly living. Our bodies are moving but our souls are dead. And our world doesn’t need anymore lifeless people. What we need are people who have come alive.
Before Jesus said, “for what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but forfeit his souls,” he said in Mark 8:34-35, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever would save his LIFE will lose it, but whoever loses his LIFE for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.”
Jesus is saying, the only way you can find the meaning of life is to give it up for Me. He is telling us that He has the answer to the question that haunts us all.
“What is the meaning of my life?” “What is my purpose?” “Why do I exist?”
We’ve all asked ourselves these questions. But we’ve allowed the world to numb us to the reality of our very existance.
We can’t save ourselves. We can’t shake ourselves from the bondage of sin. Why do we keep trying?
The invitation of freedom and life for eternity has been given to us. Given. It’s free. Nobody is trying to sell it to you. We just want to tell you about how good it is to find LIFE and all its meaning.
Our world is broken. Our people are the walking dead. And it’s up to us as Christians to tell everyone about the freedom found in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
All glory to God and thanksgiving to Him for sending His son to die on the cross for our sins, so we may find life.
I’m entering into month 11 of the World Race. My final month for equipping and leading people around the world into a life of freedom and hope, on the Race. I’ve learned a lot about the world and God has spoken very directly to me about my purpose for His kingdom.
I’m not the same man that left in July from home. I’m coming home at the end of this month forever changed. God is the only one who can change the heart of man. And these past 10 months He has renovated my heart.
Before I come home, I must do one last thing.
