My journal entry from Feb. 9th at Canaan Christian School, Haiti:

It’s been crazy and unexpected… the people, customs, the culture, the Land even. It’s always so different everywhere I go. Here in Haiti, they have nothing to claim as their own; nothing to take pride in (no musical artist or figure to look up to) and nothing to work with, no jobs nothing to make of themselves. It seems as though they only have the option to engage… Engage in what?
Well, whatever’s available. Food, travel, apparrel, relationships… How can any of these be encountered as God intended without a sense of integrity or responsibility? With no sure way of making a living or profit, with no job… they don’t have a clue how to do things with a sense of conviction either. Boredom & survival mode are a dangerous combo.
You find a whole lot about yourself and God on a venture such as this one. Jenni Rose and Miles were talking 2 nights ago about the trouble of hearing God and why that is… Miles is a wise man.
He said that God knows when we are desperately and intentionally seeking him. He knows  our human hear in its truest form; decietful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Jer. 17:9
Who can truely know the heart, much less our own? The Lord knows what makes my heart excited, proud, angry, jealous, what breaks my heart and what moves me. The heart is either captive or freed; your greatest strength or weakness.
“Your’ hear is free, have the courage to follow it.” Malcom Wallace says to young William Wallace in BRAVEHEART
What actions motivate me to live a life of courage? What does freedom look like in Christ? Are you Free?
