Today, the majority of the money needed for this upcoming human trafficking trip is due. And so I’ve been praying a LOT about WHY God has called me to work with human trafficking. Why this is an issue that is so strongly been on my heart? And is it merely a desire of my heart to work in this area? Or is it a calling? How do I know?
So here’s my story as to how I came to be where I am today:
A few years ago, as I was preparing to leave for the World Race, I was reading blogs from those who were already on the mission field, including my friend (and now roommate) Katie’s blog. She and her team had arrived in Thailand and were working with an organization in Bangkok called Night Light (nightlightbangkok.com). I had never even heard of human trafficking before, but reading about the work Katie was doing and a powerful blog by her teammate Stacy (http://stacyutecht.theworldrace.org/?filename=sex-for-sale) broke me. My eyes were opened to the horrors that are happening around the world and happening around my corner. And though I did not get the opportunity to work with those involved in human trafficking while I was on the World Race, I knew at that moment that God had a future for me in this ministry. To bind up the brokenhearted. To proclaim freedom to the captives. To comfort those who mourn. To bestow on them a crown of beauty.
And 3 years later, here I am. Preparing to embark into the unknown. Following the call. It seems that everywhere I turn, whether on Facebook or at a concert or in the newspaper, I am hearing about human trafficking. And my heart hurts each time. For each individual. So I’m not raising support for
this “fun trip” for myself, I’m raising money for that girl. For that
man. For that bar, that ministry, that
street.

Check out Philippians 4:10-20. Paul says that when they gave
toward his ministry, THEY receive the spiritual credit. God has called ALL
people to go to ALL nations… the only way that’s possible is for the Body of
Christ together to invest in each other. Fulfill
the call God has on YOUR life by investing in this trip.
