Yesterday I wrote two blogs – one about our time in China, one about expectations for Africa. And now as I sit at the internet prepared to post them, I cannot bring myself to do so, as there is a much more pressing issue at hand.

Sarah Lapp, my teammate, my sister, my close friend is leaving Africa tomorrow to go home to be with her mother, Vicki, who suddenly found out that she has cancer, and that it has spread to many areas of her body. Within only a week, after complaining of a pain in her stomach, lumps appeared in many different areas of her body, and a CAT scan later revealed them to be cancer. She is going in for a biopsy today and will find out more details, but as of now, Sarah is headed home to be with her mother and her family, to love them, to comfort them, and to be Christ to them. Sarah and her family, as well as those of  us in Africa have complete faith that Vicki will be healed.

We are spending the next few days, until Sarah arrives safely at her mother’s side, fasting and praying for her healing. I would like to challenge each of you as well to join us in this time of seeking the Lord’s hand in bringing this miracle to Sarah’s mother. The Lord has called me personally to fast until she is healed, and I don’t know how long that will be or what that fast looks like, but I’d love to have you join me in this. Sarah wants the world to be in prayer for her mom, because we all have a role in bringing the Kingdom to earth, and the prayers of a righteous man ARE powerful and effective!

If you’d like to leave me a comment and let me know if you’re joining in this fast, I’d love to let Sarah know that the world is joining together to fight for her mother! You can also contact Sarah directly by clicking here, if you have a word or a verse of comfort and edification.

Thank you for your prayers, for being the body and for bringing God’s kingdom to earth!
