We were asked to write a blog about what we expected before leaving on this trip… Here’s what I’m expecting:

As I anticipate this trip, I have so many thoughts and expectations. I
am not really sure exactly where to begin. So here are a few:

I expect
  • to partner with God to make a difference in the lives of children in desperate need of love, food, water, and so much more
  • to have my heart broken for the hurting people I seek to serve
  • to have mountain top highs and valley lows
  • to see and rely on the power of prayer on a daily basis
  • to rid me of myself
  • to live simply
  • to miss home a wee bit from time to time 😉
  • to be pushed FAR beyond my comfort zone
  • to face and hopefully conquer some of my biggest & craziest fears: claustrophobia, old/dirty things, germs, spiders…& so on
  • to face fears I never knew I had
  • to gain a better understanding of God and how he loves His children.
  • to feel burdened by the faces and things that I see but to share the hope and love that I have with them
  • to be stretched and pulled emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually
  • to develop deep, genuine, real friendships
  • to be dirty, hot and sweaty a lot due to lack of showers & uncomfortable heat
  • to experience overwhelming joy as well as overwhelming sorrow
  • to eat things I can’t even being to imagine
  • to continue to learn to be okay with and find peace in the unknown
  • to have my eyes open to things I never knew existed
I believe that God is bigger than any of my expectations. I’m scared about everything and not sure really what to expect at all. Yet, I’m excited and can’t wait to go. I am praying and asking for your prayers: that I will allow God to use me to my fullest and trust that He’ll provide the means and support to go.
