Ever since I have started working 7 days a week I have went hiking. Every Sunday, after a long 8-hour shift at the Bux of Star, I hit the mountain. This is my vacation. This is the one area of my life where I feel like putting one foot in front of the other actually shows results.

30 minutes outside of town, where the road dead ends behind the casino there is a little trailhead. The trail takes a split, you either take a left and continue to God-knows-where, probably all the way to Nevada if I can read maps right, or take a right and continue straight up the hill. Because of time constraints, I am always wrestling with time; I usually choose the path that veers to the right. This leads to a 1,000 foot elevation change in little less then a mile.

After 10 steps I have to stop to catch my breath, I feel my heart pounding in my throat, my lungs gasping for air. As much as this might hurt and is uncomfortable, I know if I put one foot in front of another I will get to the top.

I say all of this because I HAVE REACHED MY LAUNCH GOAL & I AM GOING TO CAMBODIA!!!

Fundraising for me has been a lot like climbing that hill I climb every Sunday. (Heck at this point in my life I can use this hill metaphor for most everything)

On the climb I do every Sunday, there are three distinct ‘resting spots’, or relatively flat points where you see the trail continue practically straight up.

I feel like I am at one of these preverbal fundraising ‘resting spots’. I have made it. I am on my way. There is no stopping me now. I can see the top ahead. This is no longer just a figment of my imagination, this is reality, this is happening.

And by the time I post this blog, I most likely will be at $11,000.

A year ago $16,000+ sounded astronomical, impossible almost. Now here we are less then $5,000 away. I can see the top. My mouth starts to thirst for the view. Together we can get there. I will bring you every step of the way, the good, the bad, and the ugly cry, all of it.

I just want to say thank you!
