Remember the story of Moses and Elijah, and their interactions with God on the mountain?
It is Exodus 24:12-18 and 1 Kings 19:1-15 respectively.
Moses set the standard. When he was on the mountain, he got to see God through POWER and MIGHT and FIRE!
Several years later, Elijah took the same journey to the mountain after his encouter with the prophets of baal and running from Jezebel (let that be a lesson boys, girls are crazy) =) anyways Elijah goes up the mountain to meet God.
The wild wind passes: God was not there. The earth quakes: God was not there. The fire goes by: God was not there.
And then there was a stillness. God was in the stillness for Elijah.
I would consider my encouters with God as a combination…a Mosijah if you will. I have experienced God in epic ways. There have been hard and amazing times where God has proven Himself faithful. I consider these times as the bold statements of God. During these times God has shown me that He
WANTS me to be His child. He
CARES for me. This happened deep in the Wilderness of Wisconsin at Bible school. God showed up at youth revivals in highschool, God was there at See You At the Pole, and when i worked with kids in Colorado, and for several years when i worked at camp.

And then God spoke in a refining and detailed way in the stillness. I have been working as a
flagger for construction this summer. I am living with my parents, and away from the great friendships I have worked so hard to obtain these past four years, and no longer surrounded by christian fellowship. HE SLOWED ME DOWN. And this is when God opened up my eyes to His calling for me.

God wants me to GO. He wants me to live radically for Him. For now, it looks like me going onto the mission field with Adventures in Missions, but its more then that. God showed me that my light needs to be shining now. He wants me being that light to the world everywhere I go, and in all ways.
A verse near to my heart is Micah 6:8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
And that is my calling to missions. I just need to walk humbly before God, love His mercy, and to follow Him. So as I go formally with the organization, I will be going informally as a missionary to construction, to the grocery store, to church and to school. Being a light for God, walking humbly and loving His mercy.
