  World Race Expectations

Hmmmm. I have none.

Not because I do not want anything to come of this trip, but because I believe that my view of what God wants to do with this trip is going to be way off of the amazingness that God will do throughout these next 15 months.

I say 15 months instead of 11 because my “non” expectations start today.
(this is the preaching to myself section. I am a slow learner and God is working it into me at a third grade level, so I need to keep rehashing it every chance I get)

I have been thinking a lot recently about what it means to GO be a missionary, and I am realizing that in order to GO you must first START. And so each of our trips has started. They are starting right now in however God is preparing us each individually before we even now each other. He is preparing us as we are at our jobs, at our homes, in our churches and stuck in traffic.

He is challenging me everyday as I choose to either share His gospel message with my co workers of not. He is refining me every day as I   choose to seek purity, or the ways of the world. He is strengthening me as I invest in my spiritual live with Him, and He is breaking me as I foolishly rely on my own strength and not His.

So when I think about the missions trip that is already happening, my expectations are this.

–         I expect to see great things happen
–         I expect for my own humanity to often mess up God’s divine plan
–         I expect for God’s greatness to fix up the mess that I make
–         I expect that our Christian communities will go through great trials, difficulties and pain
–         I expect that through those trials our teams to grow close together and experience tremendous unity beyond description
–         I expect days of loneliness and discouragement
–         I expect the Holy Spirit to radically work in our weakness
–         I expect things to happen that I could never imagine
–         I expect God to work on my heart as I try and be used to help others
–         I expect God to work just as powerfully here in Cowville Vermont (ok, not a real place) just as he will in Kenya or in Thailand. And that is because we are missionaries, salts and lights of this world where ever we are, and not just in this trip ahead.

All that being said, I am SO EXCITED to be able to serve God with you all in the GREAT WORLD ADVENTURE FOR GOD.
