We have landed in Costa Rica!! This last Friday M squad packed up and headed for Central America. After the shortest layover from Washington D.C. to Dallas we boarded the plane again and landed in San Jose. After a wait for team leaders to get the things the needed(cell phones, directions, contacts…) Team Vagabond got into a bus and took the two hour drive to Jaco, Costa Rica on the west coast of the country. Setting up our tents and falling asleep as fast as we could.
Saturday-Our 5:30 wake-up call(and by wake up call I mean the dang sun shining in our tents) was entirely unwelcomed. We spent the afternoon evening being apart of a youth group meeting here at La Ola(The Wave) or The Christian Surfers. About 20 or so precious lil kiddos showed up to play some soccer, skate on the half pipe, a few games, a few testimonies and some beautiful worship.
Sunday- We decided based off the frequency of our schedule that Sunday would be our Sabbath while we are in Costa Rica. We were able to attend an english speaking church with again some awesome worship and met some wonderful members who were so kind(Stephanie said we could call her and come to her house and call our parents). Since we had the whole day free we took this time to get our first taste of the beach in. Spent the rest of the day in rest to prepare for our coming week.
Monday-Work day. Every Monday while here in Jaco we will be cleaning up, gardening, matience and whatnot here at La Ola. With the amount of kids coming though this place and with the things that April(our contact/property manager/board member of La Ola) want to do here it’s really a joy to be able to do the physical things that free her up to do her ministry better.
The coming week- Tuesday-Friday we will be opening up the skate ramp for the kids in Jaco to come and hang out and for us to play with. And the possibility of doing a sports camp in a field nearby so some local kiddos. Friday is feeding some homeless(literally that is all the information we have so far).
