Hi everyone!!!
My name is Caitlynn Wheat and I am thrilled to be going on the World Race Gap Year starting August of 2016. I will be going to Guatemala, Lesotho, and Cambodia.
I thought there was no better way for you all to get to know me than to add some pictures and some fun facts about me, so here we go!
- Put on some music and I will be up dancing (no promises that I’m good, but I do try and that counts for something, right?)
- I’m from Louisville, Kentucky (WOOOHOOO, GO CARDS!)
- At Bdubs, the cooks knew me as the girl who always has a smile on her face
- I LOVE to learn new things, over the last few years I have attempted to learn sign language and guitar
- I am a girly girl to the MAX. I love all things hair, clothes, and make up. When I told my family I was going on the World Race the first thing they said was “You know that means 9 months of not getting your hair or nails done, right?” (yes, I will survive!!)
- I’m 18 years old and my birthday is September 17 so I will be celebrating my 19th birthday during the World Race

- I have an irrational fear of birds (make fun of me all you want, they’re scary)
- I have 4 brothers, and no it is not hard being the only girl!! I actually love it.
- There is one thing that will ALWAYS turn a bad day into a good one and that’s my one true love, iced coffee.
- Prepare yourselves people, I LOVE hugs. At work, I usually give everyone AT LEAST 15 hugs a day. (On this girls first day, I told her she looked huggable and opened my arms for a hug, ON HER FIRST DAY. It’s okay though)
- I am a lover of ALL KINDS of music, put on anything and I will more than likely love it. Whether it be Tim McGraw, Drake, Cage the Elephant, Frank Sinatra, or Taylor Swift, I’m probably gonna be singing my heart and soul out.
- I love all things adventure!
- When my best friend and I go to concerts (whether we know any of the music or not) we are recorded EVERY SINGLE TIME because of our dancing and singing at the top of our lungs. But at least we have fun AND entertain the people around us, right?
- In May I will be graduating from the best all girls school in the whole world, Assumption High School, a lot of the reason I am who I am today is because of the values AHS has taught me. I am so blessed that I got the opportunity to go to such an amazing school!
- I LOVE to be outside.
- My parents had me when they were 19, and my mom is one of my best friends, I tell her EVERYTHING (she’s the one in the middle by the way!)
- My last day working at Buffalo Wild Wings as a hostess was last Saturday but I had some of the best coworkers ever and I will miss them all SO much.
-
- I have an unhealthy relationship with the show the Bachelor (I literally live through their relationships)
- Lastly and most importantly, I am SO excited to be going on the World Race Gap Year, this is an opportunity of a life time and I can’t wait to be traveling through 3 different countries for the sole purpose of sharing Christ’s love.
So you may be asking why I decided to go on the World Race..
God has blessed me with the burden of hurting when I see someone else hurting. He has called me to love on everyone around who is in need of love, I have always felt a call to missions, but I was unsure when would be the right time. When it was time to start applying to college and my friends were so excited about their dreams schools I felt a little lost, why didn’t going to college right away feel right to me? Shortly after, I came across the World Race Gap Year and I was AMAZED, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, but taking a year off before college was a big decision that I didn’t think I was ready for so I started looking into month long mission trips avoiding what I knew God was calling me to do because of fear of the unknown, and as Katie Davis said best in Kisses from Katie, “Thankfully God’s plans do not seem to be affected much by my own.” I could feel God tugging at my heart, and I knew that I needed to stop running away, and follow Him because He has GREAT plans for me and His plans will always be much BIGGER and BETTER than mine will ever be for myself. I then found myself applying, and then waiting and hoping that I would be accepted. After lots of hoping and praying I FINALLY got the call, “Caitlynn, I would just like to let you know that you have been accepted into the World Race Gap Year Program!” Those words didn’t even feel real! I was SO excited that I jumped and danced around my room for a good 2 hours before even beginning to calm down.
But I can’t do this alone!
The greatest gift you can give me right now is prayer, it is so needed and would be SO appreciated. You can also subscribe to this blog for updates of what’s going on with me and where I’m at in this journey. If you feel led to support me financially, you can donate to me by clicking the “Support Me” tab at the top right of my blog. Any amount would be a blessing!
If anyone has any questions feel free to call, text, or email me!! It is my absolute favorite thing to talk about and I would love to answer any questions you all have.
Much love,
Caitlynn
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
