Dear Mom,

I wish I could hug you today.

I wish I could tell you in person that I love you.

I wish I could say enough thank yous for everything you’ve done for me.

But I guess this is a start….

Thank you.

Thank you for always being brave.

Thank you for always being strong.

Thank you for always listening.

Thank you for always supporting my dreams.

Thank you for always loving me.

And most of all,

Thank you for showing me what it means to be a woman of God.

Mom, Happy Mother’s Day.
I love you.

From my journal.
February 15, 2012

Dear Mom,

I hope you know that each day I think about you, and each day I pray for you. I know you have sent up a lot of prayers for me while I’ve been gone. But please don’t worry, the Lord is taking good care of me and hopefully when I get back I will be a different daughter than the one you put on a plane last October. I hope I’m stronger, less selfish, and more grounded than ever in the Lord.

I wish you were traveling the world with me. I know you would love seeing the dirty little children and playing with them. I know you would love seeing the Lord’s beautiful artwork, He’s an amazing artist. From the dark skinned children playing on the streets in Africa, to the black sand beaches of Central America, to the miles and miles of rice fields in Asia, from every sunrise to every sunset. His work is magical. I hope that one day I can return to some of these countries with you, and share with you my favorite places.

I know the Lord has already taught me so much about trusting in Him, but I still have 3 months of learning left. So please continue to pray for me as I experience the struggles and triumphs that come with growing into a woman of God. And know that I will be home soon.

Love your daughter,
Caitlyn
