You know you
are on the World Race when…
~You
frequently ask what country you are in and honestly cant remember… don’t even
bother trying to tell someone what city your in.
~Not
showering for 4 or 5 days is normal and completely acceptable
~Squatty
Potty, no problem… In fact you ALWAYS carry your own TP
~Poop
is an acceptable dinner time conversation, and most of your teammates think
they have parasites.
~You
have coins from multiple continents in your purse and can never find the right
currency when you need it.
~ Holes
in your clothes? No problem! Just patch them up
~
Dressing up is putting on relatively clean clothes with a pair of
earrings. If your wearing make up
your practically a rock star!
~
30 hours of travel doesn’t even make you flinch. Its normal, acceptable, and even welcomed. At least you can rest…
~5
minutes to prepare a 2 hour church service. NO PROBLEM… God will give you a word!
~
You will do just about anything for free food… and if it drops on the ground
you better eat it or someone else will.
~You
know that NOTHING ever goes as planned.
In fact you almost expect things to change or go wrong.
~
You know how and where to find free wifi everywhere you go and waste hours on
it like you will never see it ever again.
~You
celebrate Christmas random months of the year because you miss home and
everything that is America.
~You
know EXACTLY what meal you want to have when you get home. You have spent the last 11 months
salivating over each meal and food item you have so dearly missed.
~You look homeless most of the time, but no longer care.
~
You know how to say hello, thank you, God bless you, its delicious and where’s
the bathroom in multiple languages.
~You
cant remember the last time you spoke with out a translator or sat through an
English church service.
~Used
clothes markets might be your favorite indulgence. Spending more than 5 dollars is just too expensive.
~
The FREE PILE is your favorite squad event. In fact your current outfit is probably a combination of 4
other squad mate’s clothes.
~Need
to fit 25 people in a van? No
problem! We fit 32 in Africa!!
~
You walk EVERYWHERE. An hour walk
to your destination is not only normal, but expected!
~Your
idea of alone time is listening to your IPOD and closing your eyes so you can
pretend that no one else is around!
~Instant
coffee is your new best friend and you don’t know how to get through a day with
out tea time.
~You now have random skills like dry wall and spackling, skinning a goat, milking a cow, and how to entertain hundreds of kids at a moments notice.
~You
have facebook friends from all over the world and cant always remember what
country you met them in!
~Conversations
about visions, healing, raising the dead, speaking in tongues, and prophecy are
common. In fact you have
experienced many of these things first hand.
~Bucket
showers, hand washing clothes, and killing your own chicken for dinner has
become disturbingly normal.
~You
have come to LOVE community, the Holy Spirit, intercession, asking God to lead you each and
every day, walking in your new found freedom, and wouldn’t trade your 11 months on the race for ANYTHING.
