This month Team Radiance is paired up with the women of Team
Malachi in Nang Cup Ca, a small village in the province of Sisaket,
Thailand. It is in the north east
in one of the poorest regions in the country. I cant begin to tell what a blessing it is to be here. We are living with the sweetest older
couple that we affectionately call Mom and Pa. A long-term 23 year old missionary named Katie also lives
with them. They are the only 3
Christians who live in the village.
They open up their home to teach kids English and reach out
to the community. They are such a
blessing and have the most joyful hearts.
Pa goes around all day long trying to get us to speak in Thai and Mom
cooks the best food I have eaten on the race. It is DELICIOUS!
They always have the biggest smiles are their faces and have a joy that
could only come from the Lord.
Their daughter, Pyrarath, is married to an American missionary named
Casey and they have 2 beautiful kids named Som and Dillion. We instantly have become a part of this
amazing family. We have only been
here for a few days and it feels like home.
This month we will be playing with local children and
teaching English classes, as well as traveling to other local villages to encourage
believers. We will be doing skits and other creative things to share God’s love. Most of the children
who are trafficked into the sex slave trade are from this region so by reaching
these young girls and their families it stops the cycle of destruction. We also spend much of the day
interceding for the community.
Some Highlights thus far…
~Eating Mom’s authentic Thai cuisine which she cooks from
scratch every meal over a FIRE!!! Two Words: Sticky Rice… so delicious
~Learning Thai from Dad as he mimes everything he is telling
us!
~Going to a local soccer tournament and competing in a stilt
walking competition and water balloon relay in between games. They rigged it so we could win by
telling our team we needed 6 people to compete and not 4 like all the
others.
~Taking evening walks with village children and water
buffalo as the sun sets.
~playing volleyball in the school yard with local kids (LOVE
how God knows EXACTLY what I need brighten my day!)
~Encouraging and challenging conversations with Katie, the
local missionary. She is awesome
and makes me laugh. A LOT… (once
again something I desperately needed)
~KILLING AN 8 in. POISONOUS CENTEPEDE!!!… well lets be
honest, I watched but Katie pinned it down and Sarah chopped off its head with
a knife. We may be girls, but we
are tough!!! since then we have also killed another smaller centepede and a scorpion! eek
~Waking up to kids peeking though our window waiting for us
to come out and play. They are
precious!
Please Pray that…
~Mom and Dad will be HUGELY encouraged during this
time. I cant imagine what it is
like to be the only Christians where you live, without a church or body of
believers for support. They amaze
me.
~The young girls in the village would grow up to know their
identity and worth. That they
would dream BIG and not fall into the destruction of prostitution. Pray that their families are reached as
well so none of these precious girls are sold to a Madame.
~ Team Radiance and Team
Malachi would be Christ to this wonderful village. That they would know there is a God who LOVES them. Pray that we would have divine
appointments and that our actions, words, smiles, etc would radiate God’s
light.
Mom washing grand baby Dillion! So stinkin CUTE 🙂
