It’s that time again…Informational Ministry Blog.
This month my team and I are spending our month in Chennai, India. We are working at an orphanage called Indian Gospel Mission.
We arrived in the wee hours of the morning from a 28 hour travel day, that involved an overnight bus ride to Bangalore, a couple of bus switches, and a few hours on the side of the road after we figured out that the underneath of our bus was on fire. We were met at the train station by our contact, Joe, whose father started Indian Gospel Mission 26 years ago. When we arrived we were shown directly to our accommodation, which is a 3 bunkroom apartment, with a quaint family living area.
The next day we were given off since we had arrived so late. We were shown the ropes, and told all about how IGM operates. The children’s home we are staying at is an all girls home; there are 20-something girls who call this their home. The age range of the girls is 5-21 years old. There is a church on the children’s home campus where we worship on Sunday’s.
This month we are here to serve in whatever capacity that looks like. A typical day at the children’s home starts a little before 6AM. We meet the girls for their morning bible time at 6AM, where they read a Proverb and a Psalm for the day, as well as pray for their day. After that every day looks a little different, but usually Team Uncompromising Love has some down time. Around 7:45AM we help the girls get ready for school by studying with them, and then after that it’s breakfast time. When breakfast is over the girls head to school, and we are asked to do whatever our contact wants us to do. The past week the task at hand has been sanding the entire dining hall, as well as packaging rice for distribution at a feeding project. The task lasts until lunch, and then after lunch it’s back at it. When late afternoon hits, we “take a rest” and catch our 2nd wind for when the girls return from school.
Around 6:45PM we have another study session with the girls, followed by prayer and bible reading time again. Dinner is served around 8:30PM, and then we’re calling it a night by 9:30PM.
That’s just a little glimpse of a day in the life of month 5.
I can’t believe month 5 is almost over!—we’re almost to the halfway point of our race! (Feb. 10th!)
Please pray for the rest of this month, as it has already been proving itself to be a month of extreme flexibility.
Again, THANK YOU to my generous supporters who have helped me get to this point!!!!!!! I MUST be FULLY FUNDED by March 1st in order to avoid ending my race! This means around $4,000 more, y’all! It’s so exciting to watch the Lord move in this fundraising effort. I challenge you to get involved if you haven’t already done so. Ask the Lord.
Love y’all,
Caitlin
