Transformation

“A student is not above his teacher,

but everyone who is fully trained
will be like his teacher.”
-Luke 6:40

My home church (Westgate Community Bible Church in San Jose California) and has a discipleship program called “SIX40” which teaches what being a Christ follower means.  In the same sense that this program emphasizes the need for people to be discipled and grow so too have I been realizing my limited knowledge and need for a director.  Questions seem to trickle into my little head because of this realization.  Questions such as…
-Why do people live the way we do in different countries?
-How do we as people really love well?
-What causes a change in heart?
And so on…

I’ve come to realize the answer to all of these questions seems simple enough.  Paul says in 1 Cor 3:6-7, I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” I think the best answer has to do with God’s plan of transforming us.  I as a man, similar to Paul, might be able to refute arguments or get cause change in actions, but I’m just a man.  I’m limited in that I can’t make others nor myself grow physically or mentally (and I’m not talking about working out or reading a book, but the very essence of growth), but I can provide/push into an atmosphere which places myself and others in the street where God’s semi called “transformation” will run right into us whether we want it to or not.  This is why I like to listen to those mp3 websites listed in my last post!

May we as a people love, learn and live in light of Truth! Oh what an abundant life full of transforming knowledge and wisdom there is in God through Jesus Christ and in the wise words of Lloyd Christmas of the great movie Dumb and Dumber, “WE’LL TAKE IT!”
Simply a student,
