Exodus 6:7- I will take you to be My people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God…”
If I could describe my experience in China in two words, I would choose to say “life changing”.
My team worked with an AWESOME organization (see bottom) with a bunch of people who are totally sold out for Jesus Christ. In the mornings we met for prayer and then for both lunch and dinner, we went out to a college campus to make friends. We asked our new friends out to war, and then shared the story of Jesus with them.
“what is Jesus?”
“Oh…I believe in myself…”
“I have the spirit of Buddhism.”
Maybe this is good for for western culture, but not for me.”
“The Communist Party can care for me like Jesus does for you.”
Usually at least one of these statements was used every time I shared. It might seem discouraging, but it is all they know. These were some other awesome things people said about Jesus:
“I want to know Jesus.”
“He did that for me?”
“God really thinks I am special.”
“Before today, I used to try to get inner peace by meditating, but when we prayed, God gave me inner peace…I know God will help me in my new life.”
We saw:
~MANY seeds planted for God to harvest in His timing.
~God use us to water seeds that had been planted before.
~God relentlessly pursuing His people.
~Four people enter into relationship with Jesus (and a few people who are SO close!!)
One day I was able to sit and talk with a young woman who God has been chasing relentlessly. For over three hours we talked about God, and both shared our hearts. Being able to pour into her and answer her questions about God was so rewarding. I watched as the wheels in her head started turning, and as Gd started to open up her heart to Him. She didn’t start a relationship with Jesus that day, or other times we met, but even she said, “I’ve been told all my life that God isn’t real, but now I am not so sure.”
While helping the organization set up for their weekly fellowship with Chinese believers, I was privileged to help set up a baptism pool! WOOHOOOOOO! After the fellowship at a party, everyone gathered for prayer and, I can’t express the joy that filled my heart as I listened to Chinese believers reverently praying to God.
Now, the friends in this organization? They are amazing. I was so blessed by the way they love. They took every opportunity they could to pour into our team, even though we were there for such a short time. They talked with us, prayer with and for us, worshipped with us, did Bible studies, and just loved on us. The passion they have for what they’re doing, and for Jesus, even after 6 years for some, more of less for others, is so strong, it sparked passion in me.
This month was challenging, but so rewarding, and so worth it. I learned how to extravagantly share the Gospel. Something inside of me is more than just a little sad about leading that place, and those people. I feel like I have left a part of my heart there. I will never forget my time there, or the many things God did in my heart while I was in China.
Guys, God is moving in China. He is revealing Himself in their nation and lives are being transformed. God has an incredible plan for these people! My request? Please pray for China, and the people God is using there. Please pray for the new believers we met, and for truth to reign in their lives, as the enemy is hard at work. Prayer in powerful!
