My parents, Sarah’s parents, and Natalie’s mom were paired up for the week.
Day 1 : 61 Project
They teach kids, provide arts and crafts, and play sports with kids in the valley.
My family played soccer. First time I’ve been able to play soccer for ministry!
It was so much fun because my family is a soccer family.
One of the boys took my parents back to his house.
They invited me to go but I declined because I knew it was something they needed to experience as a couple.
I ended up juggling with two teen girls while they boys played volley ball on a hill.
Day 2 : Construction
We drove to the other side of the mountain to help build fences, bunk bed, roofs, and a house.
My mom found a little girl and decided to be with her for the morning.
My dad was building bunk beds.
I was …not really doing anything.
Too many people with not enough jobs.
I help a boy get water from a well!
After lunch I played soccer with the older boys while the kids were on a make-shift see-saw.(cinderblock and log.)
Day 3 : Hospital
I was worn out by this time and just wanted to sleep.
We went to hear Merci’s story on how she started her mission at the hospital.
I had walked a boy to the bathroom while my mom got a ladies contact information.
We walked around the kids department and prayed for all the kids we could.
After lunch, we went back to the hospital for 30 mins.
My parents went to go see a 100 year old lady while I took a nap.
Day 4 : Uh Oh :/
We woke up to mudslides and found out that three kids we played with during the week had died.
Since we couldn’t go to any ministry site we split into three new groups.
My family went to dig mud out of a house and yard.
Hours upon hours of moving mud out of a house and its yard.
We tried to make a barrier incase another rain happens but got yelled at by the government.
Language barrier.
We got on Kenya TV.
A boy asked me to take him back to America.
Day 5 : Lake
We got a free day to go to the lake or just to hang out.
Saw hippos, zebras, giraffes, and many different kinds of birds.
It was a great last day to spend with my parents.
LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD!
