Last weekend, Sept 14th – 16th we traveled to Kalum (ßnot sure on the spelling) to preach at our contacts mentors church.

We arrived around mid-day and ate lunch with our contacts mother and her family.  What we didn’t know was, we would eat at the table while they ate on the stairs, couch, and other various places… it was awkward but it is what they wanted.  After we ate, we had team time.  I feel as though this was the first team time break threw we had.  It was rough on one person but our team became so much stronger because of it!

After team time we went back to the church (our house for the weekend) to rest, get ready for church, and to head back to the families house for pre-service refreshments.  (We are so spoiled!)

After refreshments we headed back to church, once again.  At this service, each of us gave a testimony and Natalie preached the sermon.  This was the first time I ever spoke in front of a church… and I made the pastor cry, whoops!  The worship was in both English and in Malay’s native language and lasted until God wanted it over… roughly 45mins.  It was quite an experience that I would love to do again.

After the service, the church decided to prepare dinner for us… yes we eat A LOT (and yet im still not full, this can’t be good lol).  Once again, we were seated at the table while most of the church surrounded us.
When we went to bed that night we had AC.  This I thought was a good thing… but I ended up freezing in the middle of the night so Ashley and I moved our “beds” to a warmer location and put on more clothes.
In the morning the pastor and our contact took us to a restaurant for some Chinese breakfast.  Alex ended up eating many cup full’s of some spicy stuff that even Malay’s don’t even eat.

We then went to a WATERFALL!!  bbuuutttt it wasn’t exactly a waterfall.  Here the word ‘waterfall’ means ‘river’ lol!  We kept asking them when we were going to see the waterfall and they just stared at us blankly.  We still had a blast tho!  Tommy, Leanne, and Emily jumped off a rock and bridge in to the water.  Tommy, Alex, Leanne, Emily, Natalie, and I went white water rafting down the rapids with no raft.  We ate an amazing feast around the campfire!  And it down poured on us!

When the rain stopped we went on a tree top rock.  I was so scared during the beginning on the walk but as I stopped to look at the beauty the fear went away… it was awesome!

Later that night we had dinner with the pastor’s family and pasted out as soon as we got home!

It was a fantastic weekend!
