Am I radical? Am I extreme? Does my leaving home for eleven months to travel the world for the sake of the Gospel make me passionate? God has called me to this life for a year; what else could I do but obey?
In one of my favourite messages the man quotes his wife as saying, “Since when does obedience make you special?”
There is nothing extremely special about what I am doing compared to other Christians who are also following God’s calling on their life. We are only obeying our Master’s voice.
Am I an example?
Perhaps. I hope so. Paul exhorts me to “be an example to the believers”. I hope that my example is not one of extremity but of obedience, though. Every Christian has a calling from God. Every call is different. Obeying, that is not extreme; it’s just normal.
Let us strive to be like Jesus, not “extreme”…I dare you!
