I realized that even with a few post here and there I haven’t really shared what has been going on this month.  So What has happened in January. Well God has used three very distinct lessons to teach me about trusting Him.

Lesson One: Wrecks Happen.

Earlier this month I was in a car accident (second one since applying for the Race). Thankfully no one was hurt, but my front bumper was busted up.  I was shaken up and a little upset, of course. I knew, though, that God had this under control, and He had actually already provided for this wreck from the first one (not my fault). He also sent me a little reminder through one of my elders calling that evening to let me know the church would be supporting for the year. So after my Umpa duct taped my car up (you know you’re from KY when…) I made the drive home (just to hours).

Lesson Two: Cars Don’t Last Forever.

It took me about two weeks (don’t judge), but I finally made it to the local collision center to get an estimate on fixing my car. I still had a little bit of damage from the first accident (minor cosmetic) so minus that they told me the cost would be about 65% of the total value of me car. Unfortunately at 75% they total the car out, and their estimate did not include the prior damage nor any inside work.  So it looks like a car is in the near future.  The is not exactly something I was planning to do before I left. Actually I was hoping my car would last another 5-7 years…oh well. When I got the news it was okay. God’s got this and He will work it all out for His glory.

Lesson Three: Jobs Come and Go.

About two weeks ago my boss called me in for a meeting.  As it turns out my job will no longer be needed at the end of this month. (I love my boss and God has used Him to bless me several times.  This only comes after he has tried everything he can and I completely understand.) That was quite unlooked for (for the most part) and another thing I had not planned for.  During and coming out of the meeting my first thought was “This just gives God more opportunity to show up.”

As the days have gone by, though, satan began his assaults. With each attack God was faithful to provide a reminder.  Whether it was through new donations, affirmation from friends, encouragement from squad mates, the prayers of my family, or His words, He has shown me that this is the path He has called me to and, until He gives me some other directions, this is the way I shall walk. He just keeps reminding me to trust Him for He is trustworthy.
