I have been adopted into new family lately. I have a new team and a new host family here in Nepal. I feel like a foster child whose life changed in a matter of hours. I feel like one of those couples on a match.com commercial who boasts about finding the perfect match! First, there is Team Tambo Tribe- short for tambourine. We decided to be represented by the tambourine because it was played after a battle victory and is a symbol of joy and rejoicing. This certainly feels so true for us because joyful and full of dancing if how I would describe this lively bunch of ladies.

Since being together, I have found great freedom in being myself and seeking Christ in new ways that I desired in this journey. We are a crazy bunch of women with stories not bloggable but have already made memories that will last forever. The verse that we have claimed for our team is, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19. This really sums up the fresh start we have in this new family. What makes it greater is that when we arrived at our host home here, there was an orange tambourine lying out! As we went to pray for families and at the church here, there were tambourines in each place we went!

On top of the new wonderful family of women, we have been blessed with this amazing host family here in Kathmandu, Nepal. Pastor Megh, his wife, and son have taken us in as their own 6 daughters. I didn’t realize how much I missed family until I got a hug from my new papa or fed delicious meals by ama (means mom). After teaching at school all day, we come home to play guitar with our brother, Subash, have family prayer and worship at night, and there is constant laughter in the house. Of course, sharing one 14x12ish bedroom with 5 other girls sleeping on the floor gets a big small, smelly, and messy- but it has been so great to be a family.

We are also getting our very own fall here! It is cool and crisp just like fall at home since we are up in the gorgeous Himalayas. We are even getting pumpkins to carve on our day off. It feels even more like fall since we have been teaching at an English school in the village, just like I would be at home. Teaching here has been less educational and more us singing and dancing for them! Oh, the life of a celebrity!!
