Hello all, I am an avid writer but can honestly say I have never blogged so here goes nothing. Here are the basics: I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, went to the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL, and moved to Charlotte, NC last January. I just had my first white Christmas being away from Florida! I am 23, about to start an internship for Special Education, and a nanny for an amazing baby boy, as well as a sitter for a whole lot of other kids. I also teach an afterschool art program for elementary and preschool children. So, yes, I enjoy children and will be finishing graduate school right before I leave for the Race.
I have been a "churchgoer" my whole life and personally gave my life to Christ in middle school. I was wrecked by the Gospel in college and now cannot settle for the way life was before. Since then, the Lord has done amazing things and always laid foreign missions on my heart. I have denied his call to go many times for selfish reasons and this is my first step into the field outside of short term experiences. I have never felt at peace with the "American Dream". When God speaks of living, I hear of going into the nations, meeting his people, and sharing his word. Genesis 4 shows God's call to Abram and also what Abram must give up to go. I do not deny it is difficult to leave my amazing family and friends for a time but know that it is a call upon my life for this time.
I know there is too much to type in a short introduction so here are some "fun facts":
-I love sports (Mainly Florida teams), hiking, camping, etc. but grew up cheerleading
-I have been to 26 countries and 31 states
-I have been skydiving, paragliding, hot airballoning, canyoning, etc. and finally got rid of my fear of heights
-I recently cut off 10 inches of my blond hair and now look like I do in my picture above
-I am most often described as quirky
-I am proficient in Spanish and studied abroad in Spain
Luke 3:11 "John answered,'anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same."
