We were in the Malaysian jungle for about 5 days with a translator. We have been here for another 2 weeks without a translator. So it has been very difficult for us to communicate with the Orang Asli people, which is the name of the people here in the community.
At first we weren’t too sure what to do. We have a desire to go out and share the Gospel with the people and to build relationships but with no way to communicate it’s been tough. This is when I realize that living out my faith is the most important thing. We say this all the time and try to live up to it but here when there is literally no other way to share God, you have to walk it out. Especially when you are living in the community and have people watching you at all times. Like waking up to children staring in the through the windows and chickens clucking from inside the church. These are the times you know everything you do should be glorifying to God.
For me, here, God has been calling me to a deeper more intimate relationship with Him. This is the only way I can truly walk out my faith, being nearer to Him. Learning His ways and the things He wants for my life, listening only to Him. The only way to listen to Him is to know His voice. While this is something He is still teaching me, I am learning.
By the end of our time here in the jungle I really feel that we have been able to build relationships. Even with out talking we have grown to truly love the people here and I know I am going to miss them. We were able to pray with a lot of the people in the village including the chief and many children. We also wrote out some scripture from the Malay bible and shared them with the homes we visited.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
Galatians 5:24-25
