We landed in Kuala Lumpur on Monday March 29, then we took a bus to into the city and met with our contacts there, only then did we find out our mission for this month. Team Malachi is in the jungle of Malaysia this month and we are so excited. The next morning we took a car about 1 ½ hours outside of town to a small town called Raub and then drove another hour outside of that with 30 minutes on a dirt road and now we are officially in the jungle and I love it here. It’s such an amazing community! We are here helping teach English to the kids here. Well the girls anyway. We are following a team who was here in February and they got it all started. We are doing the alphabet, numbers, colors and different phrases translated from Malay to English. The guys however have the hard work this month. They are building chalets for future missions teams to stay in. They are pretty sweet. Made out of bamboo and a thatched roof.
One reason I love it here is of course the beautiful people and sweet kids. The kids are great!! I was just sitting outside today watching them play and sing and dig in the dirt and thought this is how children really should be, without the distraction of a television or video games, just being a kid. I feel like so many kids miss out on that because they grow up too fast and when we finally realize it we have a ton of bills and are tied down to job and it’s too late. I have to say life here, from what I have experienced in the last week, is hard but so good. As soon as I entered this community I felt a sense of peace. The people we are working with are Christians and we actually get to hear the kids practicing their worship music every night before bed, since we are staying in the church.
So this month will be a lot of encouraging and praying with other Christians. Please pray for the classes and the building projects and that God will show us things that He wants us to do here. Pray that even with a language barrier that Gods love and all the things He wants to say and the things He wants us to hear here is understood. Please continue praying for the team and no sickness in Jesus name.
Much Love
Some cool things I have done that I may have never experienced.
– Watching God work even when I’m not sure what’s being said
– Washing clothes in the river
– Bathing in the river
– Living in the jungle
I wrote this blog while in the jungle and we can’t really post them until we get into town. Which is why for the next couple weeks I will be posting a few at a time so don’t get overwhelmed.
