The last woman we visited on our home
visits was Mary Jane. We went and just started talking with her
about her family then asked if she was a christian. She hesitated
and didn’t really answer. One thing about Philippinos is that they
rarely say no to anything, most of the time they will just kind of
ignore the question. So I believe this is what she was doing.
We began sharing a little with her
about the love of Christ. We asked her what she thought about how to
get to heaven. Her answer, like most of the people in the community,
was “be good.” Then John began to tell her that there is nothing
she can do to earn her way into heaven, that all she had to do was
accept Christ into her life. That there is nothing she can do to
make God love her any more or any less. She is a daughter of God and
He loves her and just wants her to be in His family for eternity. At
this time we asked if she wanted that and she said yes. We explained
to her that God wants a relationship with her and that He would be
with her always. John then prayed with her and she accepted Christ
right then. She is so excited.
Today we were back in the community and
we went back to her house for a follow up, to check in to see how she
was doing and if she had any questions. She asked again if she would
be going to heaven and we told her yes! You accepted Christ and He
is with you. Then she asked about her husband, he is not a believer.
She wanted to know if he would go to heaven also. I told her that in
the bible it says “there is only one way to the Father and that’s
through the son.” We encouraged her to live a life that glorifies
Jesus and hopefully her husband would see Him in her and want that
for himself.
Please pray with me for Mary Jane and
her husband. God is so good!!! He wants this family and this
community and He is pursuing them. He has done so many incredible
things here already. It’s amazing to me that the God of all
creation wants me and you and Mary Jane and her husband and her
family. He comes after us whole heartedly and seeks us out. This is what this year is about. Furthering Gods Kingdom. Letting God use me to show people His goodness. He is so awesome and He gives to us freely all we have to do is accept His gift.
