Our first stop is in South Auckland, NZ where we are working with Redeemer church. Specifically with Tony Bracefield and his family. They are an amazing Christian family serving here in the inner city area of Auckland. They have been in this area for about 5 years and they have a eggstremely amazing ministry! They have a church member who has many chicken farms and they get the all the eggs he is unable to sell so they get about 100 trays of eggs a week. Which is about 2400 eggs a week. Wow!!! That’s a lot of eggs! However they have figured out a great outreach to this community. They go door to door and give away the eggs to the needy people of this area. They all know Tony as the egg man or Mr. B and they are very grateful to see him coming.
The community consists of all types of people from all different backgrounds. One family has a father who is the head of a gang here but he is the nicest guy I have ever met and he sends his kids to all of our programs. There are also many Mauri and Polynesian people here who the church reaches out to. Most of whom are unmarried and have many children.
We are here offering a holiday program for the children. It is summer time here so they are all at home. We have the opportunity to play and talk with the kids and also to take them to the beach or on a hike. Which is cool for us and for them because a lot of these kids have never been out of the city and we get to see the area as well.
It is just amazing to see the way God works through so many different ways. An egg outreach!! It’s just another way God uses those He has called to do His will with the things He provides and we have been incredibly lucky to be working with such great stewards of Gods resources.
