I grew up going to the lake. It is my favorite way to spend the weekend. My dad has always had a boat and we would spend the hot, humid summer days skiing and boating. We went to Logan Martin Lake in Alabama. I actually grew up in Birmingham, AL with my brother and sister. We got along…usually. It was always two against one but now that we’re older we are really close and thanks to them I have three great nephews and a beautiful niece.
I spend my days as a hairdresser working in a salon that I love!! I have been there for five years. I spend my nights and weekends with friends and family and at my church, Mountaintop Community Church. Where I have the privilege to serve with our Compassion Ministry, where my mom also serves. She is an amazing woman of faith and a great example for me.
The last two years I was able to go to South Africa, this where God tore my heart out and now there is a hole there that can only be filled by serving Him. This is where it all started and what led me to be writing this and to dreaming of the World Race.
A few of my favorite things:
– Being on the water, it’s very peaceful
– Worship music and Christian rock (I cannot sing but like to pretend)
– My small group, OASIS
– Reading
– Hanging out with my friends
– Meeting new people
– Friends, this is not your home, don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in celebration when he arrives.
1 Peter 2:11-12 Message
I look forward to meeting all my teammates and I am so excited about this incredible journey God is sending us all on.
