This is something I wrote about a year ago trying to process my thoughts after watching a bunch of youtube videos from different athiests.
1. Think for a second you are a great king, just and powerful.
Someone you love, family member, friend, trusted servant etc. murders someone in cold blood. This person stands trial and awaits punishment from you. The law demands death for the crime. You want to show them forgiveness and give a less harsh punishment. But to do so would be to be unjust act and go against the law. You want to forsake the law for the ones you love, but are good and perfect, and can only do what is good and just.
2. If God is who we claim Him to be, He is an all powerful, all knowing, infinitely just God who can do no wrong. What He decides to be “just”, does not depend on what ever He wishes it to be. Something He can change for those He cares about. But what the all knowing supreme being who knows everything about the world, and everything about justice, knows it to be.
3. In this divine justice, any disobedience of the law is sin. And any sin, requires death.
He is a loving God who is all good, and a God who is all good, can not change what is “just” simply to spare a life of someone he loves. It would be unjust.
4. God creates an alternative that allows forgiveness to those who would ask, but still be able to satisfy the law. He is able to accept the blood of his innocent son as payment for the crimes of those He loves.
5. A just and loving God can not force anyone to follow him and believe what he says.
A. To force someone into making the right decision is not just, even if it is for their own benefit.
B. If you Love someone, you won’t force them to marry you, if you love someone, you wouldn’t force them to be your friend. For there can be no love without free will. There can not be love without hate. Hot without cold, because without the opposite, there is nothing to measure it by. There is a balance for everything in this world. Love/hate – good/evil so on and so forth.
Why would a just, loving, and all knowing God create us, if He knew the doom that awaited most of us.
6. God is divine, and although not required, a divine being should be worshiped. It is what is just. Our sole purpose is to worship this divine being. He has taken interest in us not out of boredom, but because it is part of his being. He exists to love, to be all powerful, and to be God. Even though many of us have an impending doom, He is much greater then us.
7. God did not create evil. God is good, and with Him being good, good was created. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is the absence of heat. No such thing as darkness, darkness is not a substance, nor does it take any form. Darkness is merely the absence of light. The same for evil, God created good, and when we allowed the good to leave us, evil remained.
8. God can not change what is just because He Himself Is what is just and God is unchanging. Yes, God is all powerful, but only in the logical sense. Being all powerful, God can not do anything that would take away from His own power. For example, create a rock to big to lift. This is as illogical as Him creating a square circle.
