Witnessing His Majesty
1 Peter 1:16 “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”
During one of our devotional times with our host, we talked about witnessing His majesty and what that looks like. It’s not a bright shining light and God coming down in His glory. It’s noticing the little things during the day that reveal His love and joy. It’s seeing prayer requests get answered. It’s letting your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matt 5:16) Here’s a starting list of witnessing His majesty here in Costa Rica. It’s searching for the joy in every day. I hope you can continue on with your own list at home.
– seeing the children’s eyes light up as they are given piggy back rides
– hearing the children giggle and laugh and seeing their smiles
– watching the boys have fun playing soccer in the pouring rain and huge puddle of a field
– having God answer prayer for the Sector 7 school to open up and allow foreigners into it to help out in whatever way they can
– having a five year old recite 12 Bible verses to us
– having a Canadian Thanksgiving out here with the whole squad and inviting some local Costa Ricans to enjoy it with us
– cooking an abundance of home made pizza one night and sharing it with three teenagers who’ve never had some before
– watching the fun of having the October birthday people get eggs cracked over their heads
– basking in the morning light knowing that in the evening it cools down dramatically and I’ll be cold then
– entering our home for the month, the gym, and seeing the colourful tents, sleeping bags and pads and hammocks and laundry hanging up everywhere
– getting to sit by different squad members during meal times and hearing how their day went
– hearing of the miracle that happened to one of the squad members – God dissolving the kidney stone on the way to the hospital!!!!
