Human Tetris:
We have been gone 5 days and already our limits have been pushed and our wills tried. We have not spent the night in the same place for the last 6 nights. We’ve crammed too many people with too many bags into too small of a vehicle. It’s been hot and sweaty. We’ve been hungry, really hungry, but through all of these things we’ve been able to see the goodness of our God prevail. We used the long travel days to get to know each other and have some quiet time. We’ve used our empty tummies to remind of us the way we need to hunger after the Spirit. During our flights and drives we’ve seen the beauty of Africa, including Mount Kilimanjaro (pretty amazing) and the beautiful faces of the African people (I’ve seen the cutest chunky babies here, love um!). Our excitement is stilled fueled and we have a confidence that the Lord’s goodness will continue be seen throughout this month. I know it is through your prayers of support that we are still happily trekking on.
Where we’ve been:
Thursday, January 9, as expected we launched into the field. We flew from Atlanta to Detroit to Amsterdam (shout out to my motherland) to Kenya. I lost track of the days sometime while we were up in the air. We had a 12-hour layover in the Kenya airport before flying to Malawi. We spent the night tenting there, and after sleeping through the night we crammed 46 people and their bags into 3- 12 passenger “buses,” which we used to cross the border into Zambia. My team got to sit in on and participate in a local youth service before making our way to another camping site and staying the night. Early the next morning we raced to catch a bus (an actual one this time) to Lusaka, Zambia. And here we are set up in our tents for a couple days!
Where we are going:
This month my team is the Unsung Heroes team. We will be traveling around Zambia to see the different ways the Lord is moving in this country. We are searching for the people, who are building the Kingdom just for the sake of worship and who may not be recognized or supported by a major organization. We are excited to build new relationships and get a better understanding of the Kingdom presence in Zambia.
How you can pray for us:
For continued energy for my team as we live as nomads for the next couple weeks
That we would hear where the Lord wants us to go
That we will be able to encourage the Kingdom builders we connect with
Thanks again for your encouragement and support!
